Configuring your VoIP phone to use it at home 

If you take your CenturyLink® VoIP phone home (or to another location outside the office) and it boots up with your office extension showing on the screen, you’re ready to go. If not, follow these steps to configure your phone manually. You may also need to verify the VLAN setting, and configure your router.

When you take your phone off the CenturyLink-provided network, CenturyLink service level agreements, quality of service (QoS), and the ability to connect to the hosted VoIP platform are not supported. Troubleshooting is limited to providing phone and router/firewall settings.

Important: Anytime you move your phone or change locations, you should update your 911 address using the end-user VoIP portal.

To configure your VoIP phone manually:

  1. Press Menu (depending on your phone, this will either be a button or a soft key).

  2. Press 3 (Settings).

  3. Press 2 (Advanced).

  4. For the password, enter 456 or 235711, then press ENTER.

  5. Press 1 (Admin Settings).

  6. Press 1 (Network Configuration).

  7. Next to Provisioning Server, highlight the , then press SELECT.

  8. Under Server Type, use the arrow keys to select HTTP.

  9. Under Server Address, enter this IP address: (it's case sensitive).

  10. Press the BACK button.

  11. To save the new configuration, press SAVE, then REBOOT.

If you get a URL error on your phone after bootup, you also need to verify the VLAN setting.

Note: You can take your VoIP phone home for up to six months. (At the end of six months, you will need to do one of two things: contact your account manager to make the phone’s new location permanent or return the phone to your office.)
